Smells Like Chicago

Get a whiff of the Windy City. For its latest city-themed scent, boutique fragrance maker Bond No. 9 pays tribute to Chicago with a 3.4-ounce perfume sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue, starting today. In a blue bottle adorned with Swarovski crystals in the shape of a saxophone, the limited-edition offering nods to Chicago's roaring 1920s rich blues musical tradition, with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and pineapple leaves.

A 3.4 once bottle of the scent retails for a whopping $365.

The Look For Less: The LBD

Ah, the Little Black Dress. I'm kind of obsessed with the amazing fashion find CeeBee scored today at Nordstrom Rack. I'm not the patient type who can deal with scouring the endless racks of mish-moshed colors, styles and sizes at discount stores.

To my surprise, this Laundry by Shelli Segal Floral Appliqué Dress caught my eye all the way in the back of store. It fits perfectly -  the black flowy jersey material is comfortable, and the rosette appliques trim on the double V neckline are girly and gorgeous. For bustier figures, the ruched botice provides the right amount of support and coverage.

Even better, Nordstrom Rack is currently selling the dress for $44! It currently retails for $195. Classic, girly, and major bargain - LOVES IT.

UPDATE: Even better, I finally ended my search for the perfect open-toe black pump to wear with dresses or weddings/formal attire.

Kelly & Katie Take A Bow Pump at DSW

* Black satin = perfect for evening.
* Oversize bow = too cute.
* Hidden front platform = super comfy for wide feet.
* Slingback style = stays on your foot AND the heel height is just right.
* The nice price = $39.95 plus I got 30% off for batting my lashes at the manager and telling him the display shoe caused the slingback to be stretched out. Never hurts to ask, I scored $10 off.

LOVE IT!

Visual Blurbs

Today I discovered a cute and witty blog of images - perfect for sarcastic and creative types like myself.

Illustrator Alex Noriega posts funny little illustrations on his blog Stuff No One Told Me that capture some of life's simple lessons - some emotional, some angry, some funny, some kind of dirty, and some just silly - but all equally entertaining. Here's some of my favorites!

Cool Ad Campaign: Stella McCartney

I just stumbled upon this post from the Coco+Kelley blog.

You know how I always say that I love design with a sense of humour?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Still chic and gorgeous, but with that touch of whimsy that lets people know that we're not taking it all so seriously. Completed by the fact that they chose Natalia Vodianova for the shoot. She's hands-down my fave.

Aloha Hawaii

I recently returned from a week in beautiful Maui, Hawaii. Below are some of my favorite photos I captured while exploring this tropical paradise! These shots were taken with my Olympus Stylus 720. (Click on any photo to view it at full size.)

I spent a day in Los Angeles en route to Hawaii. No trip to Hollywood could possibly be complete without a visit to the celebrity-loved Kitson on Robertson.

Beautifully manicured grounds at the Wailea Beach Marriot Resort + Spa. Absolute paradise!

View of the pool and ocean at the Wailea Beach Marriot Resort + Spa. It doesn't get much better than this!

This is the adult infinity pool – check out how you almost can't even see where the edge of pool ends and the ocean begins. Unbelievable!

On an adventure rafting tour to the Kanai Coast, my boyfriend stuck my waterproof camera under water and tried to capture a school of dolphins - unbelievably lucky that this shot came out so well!
