Sweet Summer Must-Haves

Today I was pleasantly surprised to find a pair of super cute, cropped cargo pants that actually work on a petite figure. These Marisa Cargo Cropped Pants from Ann Taylor Loft do the trick, and are super flattering on short legs like mine!

I chose the Vintage Cream wash for a classic look - the adjustable drawstring ties at the bottom hem are adorable, as you can adjust them and roll up the bottoms for that slouchy, relaxed boyfriend look that looks so great with a pair of summer wedges. I can't wait to start living in these as an alternative to denim leggings and summer dresses.

Super cute cargo pants in a cropped silhouette with fabric-covered buttons. Front zip with button closure. Belt loops. Two patch pockets and one coin pocket. Two patch pockets with button closure at the thigh and two in back. Adjustable drawstring ties at the hem. Tonal topstitching and seaming details throughout. Sits lower on the waist. 21 1/2" inseam.

Pretty, airy tank tops work year-round and are the perfect layering pieces to anchor any outfit. Anthropologie never fails to offer the absolute loveliest, girlie styles in floaty fabrics and soft dreamy colors.

Here are two of my favorites:

Bordeaux imbues their jersey top with an inspired arrangement of pleating, puckering and stitching

Graces Tank in Lilac
Sheer panels of chiffon flow from mythically soft jersey into inspiring folds and ripples.

When the weather gets hot and humid, or I'm on a sunny tropical vacation, there are few things that make me as happy as an easy, lightweight sun dress in a pretty color or floral print. No need to match a top to your bottoms, just throw on a pair of cute sandals and you're out the door!

(*SHHH!!! My secret shopping tip for trendier pieces is the BP juniors department at Nordstrom - they had the biggest selection of summer dresses at a nice price. Of course the fit and quality can't match the more expensive brands, but I managed to find some great pieces nonetheless.)

Here's my recent finds:

Two-tiered ruffle flutters at the front of a breezy dress styled with adjustable spaghetti straps and an elasticized waist.

Wedge Sandals

The espadrille is not only high in fashion, but "up there" in height. Be flirty in the Rampage Flynn sling sandal while sporting bermuda shorts or a cute skirt.

I scored these perfect oatmeal colored wedge sandals at DSW. ($39.95)

These look very much like the Stuart Weitzman Alex shoe ($365) worn by Jennifer Aniston.

$365.00 vs. $39 - not too shabby!

Shopping the Sale Rack: Anthropologie

I regularly enjoy browsing my neighborhood Anthropologie and often drool over their awesome selection of jewelry, accessories, clothing, candles and home goods. The secret to scoring good marked down items at Anthropolgie is the often re-stocked sale section! Here are my recent purchases:

Celebrations Blouse – $39.95 (was $68.00)

I love this cute blouse! The crinkly jersey top has a loose, relaxed fit. I am always on the hunt for tops that are long enough to wear over leggings, and this one is perfect. I am in love with the special details, like the pompom trim and floral embroidery on each sleeve.

You can find the top in Blue (it's more of a purple, in my opinion) or Black currently on sale for $39.95 by clicking here.

Fernlee Top – $39.95 (was $68.00)

This top is really flattering - the drawstring waist adds some shape definition, while the loose fitting slubby cotton is incredibly comfortable. Cute details like covered buttons and the great teal-green color give it a dreamy, vintage feeling. I am normally not a green person, but this shade in combination with the fabric was super pretty. The details kind of get lost in the black version.

The top (in Blue, Green or Black) is currently on sale for $39.95 and can be found here.

Swept Away Top – $29.95 (was $48.00)

This ultra pretty tank by Deletta has a graceful swag of airy chiffon, topped off with a spontaneous bow. The draping is very unique and almost feels like a vintage find.

The top (available in pink, brown, black and slate) is currently on sale for $29.95 and can be found here.

Now, some of my favorite pieces currently in stores (and not on sale) that I've had my eye on!

Diaphanous Tunic

Oooh, hello gorgeous! This lighter-than-air silk chiffon tunic by Project Alabama is so dreamy, I had to post all the color options. I am dying to try this top on. Raw-edges ruffles tumble down a lengthy swath of lighter-than-air chiffon. Yes, please! The tunic length would look amazing worn over leggings or skinny jeans. The removable sash helps add the perfect waist-defining cinch.

The tunic top (in navy, ivory and lilac) is currently $88 and available here.

Leona Tieback

I am beyond in love with this! The silk top's delicately hued chiffon flows from pintuck pleats into billowy three-quarter sleeves.

Available in Pink, $98.00 here

Snowscape Tunic

It's all about the details! This Corey Lynn Calter hammered silk top b features puffs of chiffon and flurries of beads sprinkling the neckline.

$148 in Ivory, available here

Chic & Comfy Winter Scarfs

Anthropologie can do no wrong in my world. Their amazing accessories may be even more oogle worthy than their actual clothes. I just spotted this Starry Sky Scarf and had to have it!

The sweater knit material is super soft, bouncy, gauzy and beyond adorable. I purchased this one in Lilac/Grey. (It also comes in Purple/Beige and Black/White). I am not a fan of scarfs that are ultra heavy and feel itchy against your skin - they just way you down and also make me sweat to death! This one is super soft and pretty light weight.

This is a great simple way to incorporate some colorful pattern into your every day look. I may never wear a plain black scarf ever again!

I'm also in love with this Metallic Zigzag Scarf in Purple. It won't keep you as warm as the one above, but the pattern is very Missoni looking, and I love the shimmer of the sparkling threads. (It also comes in Brown, Black and Grey)
